Thatching Down South

A short film has been released to accompany one of the most popular poems by perhaps the Isle of Man's greatest modern poet, Paul Lebiedzinski.

Created by the young Manx film director Samuel Hurt, the film presents images captured on the Isle of Man which enforce to power of one of the Isle of Man's most poignant modern poems, ‘Thatching Down South.’

This short film was commissioned to accompany the release of 'Six Foot Under', a collection of 24 recordings of the Isle of Man's most controversial, brilliant and important modern poets: Paul Lebiedzinski (1951-1995). These were released in August 2017, on what would have been Lebiedzinski's 66th birthday.

Sam Hurt has worked with Culture Vannin in the past, most notably at Hunt the Wren in December 2016 and with Scran and Hamish Napier in 2017. This latest film was one of three commissioned from Sam Hurt. We look forward to releasing the others at appropriate times in the future.
