Arrane son Mannin 2012

The Arrane son Mannin (Song for Mann) is an annual competition in which groups perform newly written Manx Gaelic songs in front of a jury. The winning song is taken to the Pan Celtic festival in Ireland and performed in an Interceltic song contest.

Culture Vannin provided a grant of £300 prize money for the competition winners of Arrane son Mannin.

The winning entry for 2012 was "Cowrey ny Croshey" (Sign of the Cross) and was written by Laura and David Rowles. It was performed by the group "Mooinjerey" made up of Laura and Dave along with Russell Cowin and Ruth Keggin on bass guitar and vocals respectively. The group took the song to the Pan Celtic Festival in Derry in April 2012 and came a respectable third place.
