Funding for the second Manx LitFest was awarded by Culture Vannin.
Manx Litfest takes place each September and features authors, poets, storytellers, publishers and agents from around the Isle of Man and the British Isles. The festival sees author talks, panel discussions, readings, family shows, book signings and other events held in venues around the Island. The Friday of Litfest is 'National Story Day', for which a team of our authors deliver workshops, readings and talks at Manx schools. The weekend also involves a series of events aimed specifically at writers.
The 2013 Festival took place between 26-29 September and included four days of readings, Q&A panels, talks, library events, schools' involvement, workshops and performance pieces.
"Manx Litfest receives significant funding from Culture Vannin, and the support is absolutely crucial as we look to establish the festival as a regular annual event in the Manx calendar. As a registered charity, our focus is very much on making Manx Litfest an affordable community event, and creating a legacy by inspiring authors, poets and storytellers - children and adults - and the continued support from Culture Vannin goes a long way to helping us reach our goals." - John Quirk
