taking our culture forward

UPDATE: EXHIBITION WILL RE-OPEN THIS AUTUMN

We are catching up with annual leave not taken and are short-staffed. We will re-open the exhibition as soon as we can.

Come and visit our exhibitions on Tynwald and Manx culture at our cultural centre:

Fairfield House, Main Road, St. John's IM4 3NA

We are located just opposite Tynwald Hill, and there is ample parking in nearby public car parks at the Arboretum, and on Station Road.
A PDF of our new beautiful hand-drawn map of St. John's is available to download
here.

In the centre, you can find out about 'thing sites' like Tynwald around the world, look at old photos of St John's, find out about calendar customs, see how Tynwald works, and check out our Lego model of Tynwald Day. Younger visitors can choose from colouring-in, dressing up and playing with some Lego to add to the model.

There's much more about Manx culture in our language and music room, which features an amazing mural by Manx artist, Adam Berry. Take some time to explore our short films or sit and read some of our books.

We also have a shop selling our books and CDs relating to Manx history and culture - we specialise in publications on Manx language and music.

Opening times:

9.30am-4.30pm weekdays - SUMMER OPENING HOURS (April-October)

9.30am-4pm weekdays - WINTER OPENING HOURS (November-March)
